Note: Publisher and printer active in Venice. Born in Trino by Giovanni the Elder and Guglielmina Borgominieri, he settled in Venice with his father in 1523 and remained there to manage the company when Giovanni moved to Turin. For some time he was in partnership with his brothers Giovanni Francesco and Bonifacio and with his half-brother Giovanni Cristoforo (according to the Biographical Dictionary of Italians). At the beginning of his career he used the characters of Bernardino Stagnino, his relative, and of Bartolomeo Zanetti. In 1544 he married Lucrezia Bin, with whom he had twelve children. He had a shop in Rialto, under the name of La Fenice, and also opened bookshops in Naples, Bologna and Ferrara. He was the first printer to create necklaces (Historical Necklace and Spiritual Garland). In the Collana delle Gioie he uses, for the eighth v., an ed. by G. Rouillé by adding a new front. with his signature and brand, but leaving Lyon. M. in 1578; He was succeeded by his sons John the Younger and John Paul. Some editions with his signature were published posthumously.
